June 3-6, 2012
San Francisco, California
Abstracts accepted until March 1st, 2012
Meeting Description
The ASSFN biennial meeting is dedicated to the rapidly growing specialty of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. The 2012 meeting welcomes honored guest lecturer (and ASSFN Past President) G. Rees Cosgrove from Brown University. This year there are three premeeting workshops: DBS: A Practical Course for Neurologists, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician’s Assistants; Electrocorticography in Basic Neuroscience Research; and The Spectrum of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery for Residents and Fellows. Special topic breakfast sessions will once again be offered each day before the plenary sessions. Addressing the need to cover more topics, parallel sessions will be offered for the first time on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Key topics include Movement Disorders, Psychiatric Disease, Epilepsy, Pain Therapies, Neuroimaging, Neuroprosthesis, Radiosurgery & Neuro-Oncology and Technology Transfer. There will be lectures by internationally acclaimed faculty as well as oral and poster presentations selected from submitted abstracts. The meeting emphasizes cutting-edge clinical applications and recent discoveries in the basic neurosciences and the impact they will have on future advances in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery.
